My Partners

In the last few weeks I have realized in a deeper way the importance of two of my partners that I am honored to work with: my Drum and my Office. My drum has been with me for over 20 years and has the image of my brother (primary animal totem) on the face.  My office is a very special place which I will describe further down.

A few weeks ago, I injured my wrist and drumming was causing some pain, so one day on vortex experience with clients I decided not to take my drum.

I got about two minutes into the experience and felt something wasn't right.  It was clear to me very quickly it was because I wasn't carrying my drum like I have been for so many years.  I kept moving forward and the feeling of being without my brother did not feel good.  And I suddenly understood deeply that just because I might not be able to drum, his being there to support me is very important.  In fact, when you hear me pray before each vortex experience I always mention my brother and thank him for walking beside me and lending me his heartbeat.

That night when I got home, I apologized to my drum and promised that no matter what, he would always be with me on vortex experiences.

A little about my office: for me, it lives and breathes; it has life. The view is incredible with wrap-around floor to ceiling windows and really puts you in touch with the majesty of Sedona and the Red Rocks.  I've had some serious old-school feng shui people set the office up so the energy flows well and it supports clients in their work with me.

Each piece of furniture was bought with a lot of consideration to make clients comfortable and for them to know that I take what I am doing seriously.  I invite you to read the story I wrote about The Table  that I looked for everywhere.  The crystals and Zuni fetishes and pictures on the wall are there to help empower clients and also reflect who I am.  One could say the office is my shield in the native tradition.  Every day as I am walking out the door, I turn around and acknowledge its help with clients that day.

So, this is what happened!  I am in the process of buying my office and also looking for a house.  Last week, my realtor (thanks tom!) called me and said there is a "smoking deal" on a house and asked if I'm available (like NOW) to see it quick!  So we ran over there and checked it out.  He was right!  The house was very nice and would suit me and was priced 20% below its current appraised value—that’s right, 20%!  In a high or average market it would be about 35% below its value.  So, if I buy this house, I am looking at a huge profit right away.  Cool!  But wait!  I decide to put in an offer and as I am filling out the contract something doesn't feel right—not sure what.  I ask Tom, "We can withdraw this, right?"  Yes, no worries, we have 15 days for inspection.

I head down to Phoenix and just try and quiet down. When I feel I am more centered, I put calls into the mortgage broker and accountant to run this by them.

Well, here is the short of it.  I can't put together all the money needed to buy the house, office and pay taxes in two months. Without thinking, I knew the decision I needed to make—the office is the most important. And in that moment, I understood how deeply I felt about that special place and how important it is for me to make clients comfortable and offer them a powerful place to heal and do the brave work they come here for.  I thought, "So what if I take this loss in money, there will be other deals.  I just knew without a doubt it was the right decision.

Some times people or things in your life are supporting you more than you realize.  Acknowledge them, brothers and sisters—they deserve it.  Also, my wrist getting injured has brought all sorts of cool lessons (Soon to be a story!).  Try and see the gift in all your experiences.  Keep your eye out!

So on this day in the Magic Kingdom, I say A Ho to you my Partners, thank you for supporting me.  I am honored to walk beside you.  And I thank my Creator for sending them.

A Ho,
Greg

The Foot Print!
(An example of being in inquiry)

When clients come on retreat you will hear me encourage them to be in inquiry about a question I pose to them.  This means to let their innate wisdom have a chance to respond to that inquiry.  Well, I thought I talk about one of my personal inquires!

In the last few weeks the red soil here in Sedona has been very porous so it leaves a very defined imprint of your shoe which lasts for a few days...read more

Pick One Fight

(Resisting the Rant!)

For a solid year I have been resisting writing a very passionate rant about what's going on in our country.  I know many of you out there also feel this same need.  I always stop myself because I don't want to turn this spiritual newsletter into a political forum.  And perhaps I stop myself because I know action is what counts, not words.

Over the last month I watched two movies in a row that disturbed me. One was called "Bordertown" with Jennifer Lopez about the factories in Juarez that were created as result of NAFTA. 5000 women have been raped and murdered there and no one is doing anything about it. Then I watched a semi-documentary about kidnapping children and women to sell into the sex trade and child pornography. Honestly, I couldn't get through this one, it was too disturbing. Maybe because I have a very special friend who was used in child pornography.

The terrible things that are going on in the world seem overwhelming-they did to me in that moment.  But it came clear to me suddenly that I need to pick one fight and focus on that.  My one fight is to support the National Association To Protect Children, a lobbying organization that is on the front line to get legislation changed or created to protect kids.

So on that day, I figured out how to add their banner to the bottom of all 240 pages of my web site( had to remove temporarily because it reports some spam--they are checking on it)   And I emailed a query to them asking how I can be of support to them beyond donations.  As I have written before, I will do everything I can to help "the children of the secret".  And sometimes those children are the inner children of these wonderful women who come to me on retreat; inner children who have been abused in many ways.

Brothers and sisters, I encourage you with all of my heart to Pick One Fight.  Take all the anger or frustration, disbelief, etc. about what's going in this country and channel it into one fight.  That warrior spirit lives inside you--let it out!__________________________________________

Book Recommendation

Spontaneous Healing of Belief
By
Gregg Braden

This is Gregg's latest book and takes his research and documentation around the power of belief and feelings to an even deeper level. I am already using elements that I learned in this book in my practice with clients.

We are all aware how our childhood effects our lives. But I heard a little deeper in the book how important this is. Gregg sites research which documents that between birth and 7 years old we are like a giant sponge with no filters at all. We are just soaking up everything both positive and negative and that most of our subconscious beliefs we're formed then. Beliefs that create our reality.

Another interesting fact is that 90% of our thinking is subconscious and only 10% of it is conscious. And that our conscious mind operates with the computer processing power of 40 bits of information per second and our subconscious mind processes information at 20 million bits per second!

Read this one! So much valuable information.

Report on Gregg Braden Lecture

I was very excited to go see Gregg Braden's lecture this past Saturday at the Sedona Creative Life Center.  Elements of Gregg Braden's book, The Isaiah Effect have been a big part of my manifestation work with clients here in Sedona.  Clients will recognize it as "The Already Done Prayer."

Gregg is a very gifted speaker and I was actually stunned at how excited he was at material I am sure he has presented hundreds of times.  It was truly like the first time he ever talked about it.  I sat and really tried to quiet my listening so I could hear his principles at a deeper level.  And I did!  I heard something about the power of our beliefs and its effect on creating our reality at much deeper level.  Also, I heard something about the mind-body connection which struck me:  "Not only do beliefs cause illness but they can also heal."  Of course, this is something I have been aware of but I heard it at deeper level.  When you are here on retreat this is why I drive you crazy about "deep listening"!

True knowledge has never changed only how we hear it changes!  That's called Evolutionary Listening!

Personal Comments About
The Journey Weekend Intensive

I want to make a few personal comments about the upcoming Journey Workshop.  I have done the "The Journey" three times and each time it has created powerful breakthroughs.  As a cancer survivor it's important for me to address any possible cellular memories that could contribute to an illness.  I wrote a story about my first journey session and I'd like to invite you to read it: Cellular Memory

(In fact, I have a whole column about Healing & Illness, if you haven't read it, check it out!)

"The Journey" is a process I recommend to many clients.  I think it can be valuable at many levels especially for people who are stuck in their head and have a hard time getting in their feelings.  If you are cancer survivor or patient or anyone dealing with serious illness, in my opinion, it's a must. There are truly no words I could construct that would communicate to you how important it is as part of a multi-dimensional healing strategy. It's a win-win.

*I want to also add this: There are others ways to heal and that's part of my mission in Sedona: to suggest what might be the most productive way for a client

I have never met anyone who doesn't believe in the mind-body connection but surprisingly a very small percentage are taking action to address this dynamic.  The Journey is one very powerful way.  I encourage you to jump off and get out of your comfort zone and come do the the workshop.  You can do it!  You have so much more courage in you than you could ever believe, brothers and sisters.  Go for it!
