Greg’s Message for the Month

First Door

I had a wonderful experience today. They finally came to put the lettering on the glass door to my office.  I watched very closely while Ralph, the jet-master of window-lettering, set the placements, especially the smiley-face!  I have never seen this process done or have ever had lettering with my name put on a door.  Suddenly, he pulled the tape off and there it was—GREGORY DRAMBOUR in big type—I got a little emotional—this emotion really surprised me. I was trying not to cry in front of Ralph, my new best friend!  Then the smiley face became visible and then my address which says, Magic Kingdom, AZ!  After Ralph left, I stood there for a moment looking at the door, stunned, the emotion welling even stronger even me.  I ran in my office and shouted—“That’s what I am talking about!”  All sorts of feelings raced thru me. Mostly gratitude.

There are moments in each of our lives that we, ourselves, will only truly understand the importance of—if we are very lucky there a few other people in our life who will also “grok” (deeply understand and see) the deep deep meaning of an achievement.  If you have someone like that like in your life—be very grateful, brothers and sisters.

My personal journey has been quite a ride! But here is something to know: Everyone—all those people standing at the corner waiting to cross the street with you, have also had rough lives—most people have—truly. This doesn’t in any way minimize the roughness of your life.  But we have to be careful of feeling we are unique because it will separate us from others. It’s in knowing we are not alone that we will find strength. And this is the great principle of 12 step programs.  Identification gives us compassion for ourselves. And with compassion comes understanding then change.

Perhaps when clients sit across from me, they take one look in my eyes and know I have been there and back. And that comforts them. But also, they know that I’m not someone they’re going to bullshit!  And in my experience most clients are looking for someone who isn’t going to let them get away with their stuff.  And heh, I have my own stuff too! My teachers bring out the 2X4 once in a while and give me a good spiritual whack!

In the last few months, I have a few experiences around this toughness theme which has given me greater insight into my past journey. I was honored to have a cancer patient, a very special woman, in my office who had a lot of desire to find a cure for herself—the doctors say she is terminal (never listen to this by the way). This session went for 3.5 hrs because I couldn’t get her to see what I felt might be the emotional component was that led to the cancer. It was about co-dependency—her whole life had been lived for other people and she was totally unaware of it.  I have seen this phenomenon before where the co-dependency is so deep and ingrained from one generation to the next a client can’t get their head around it.

About two hour into the session, I looked up and saw my two guides looking down at me. By they were looking at me I sensed they wanted to tell me something important.  I went quiet and waited. After a moment, my brother looked down at me and said, “Do you understand now, brother, do you understand now?” Right away I knew what he meant and without thinking covered my eyes feeling the tears coming.  I replied, “Yes, my brother, thank you, thank you—A Ho, A Ho.” Gratitude overwhelming me like a beautiful wave.

This is what he meant: I would never been able to have the will to get tough with this wonderful client if I hadn’t gone thru the cancer journey myself.  Once again, the present changing the past.

That’s one of my missions here in the Magic Kingdom—to get people bright and make small shifts in their emotional environment so that they don’t have to experience that horror.  It’s a mission that I am honored to be given.

Thank you for your support and acknowledgments of my work and writing and my book, The Woodstock Bridge—it means more to me than I can.  My heart is full.  I am standing before you.  A Ho, A Ho.

Dear Liza by Sydney Banks

This is Syd’s new book.  A simple amazing story.  I cried thru most of the book—tears of gratitude and happiness. I can’t recall having that reaction to a book in a long time.  It changed me—period.  Thank you, Syd.  Please read it, my friends.

Recommended Movie

The Big Blue

One of director, Luc Besson’s, first movies. A beautifully shot film about the world of free-diving and the special men who venture into the deep without oxygen. Lots of dolphins in this movie! Who doesn’t like dolphins! Jean Reno is awesome in this.
