The Culture of a Warrior

In my note book you will find the following list of qualities of a warrior. These are edited quotes from Carlos Castaneda’s book, The Wheel of  Time.  I find myself looking at them every so often to keep me on track.  I have added a few of my own at the end. It’s my plan to write a book called The Culture of the Warrior. These ideas will give you a sense of what I have planned.

  1. “Warriors discard everything that is unnecessary. They aim at being simple and not complicating things.  They apply all their concentration.”
  2. “A warrior must be willing and ready to make their last stand here and now but not in a helter-skelter way.”
  3. “When taking action a warrior relaxes and abandons himself . They fear nothing.”
  4. “When faced with odds that cannot be dealt with.  Warriors retreat for a moment.  They let their minds meander.  They occupy their time with something else.  Anything will do.”
  5. “Warriors compress time.  Even an instant counts.  Warriors don’t waste even a moment.”
  6. “Warriors choose their battleground.  They never go into battle without knowing what the surrounding are.”
  7. “Warriors never take themselves seriously. They learn to laugh at themselves.”
  8. “Warriors have endless patience. They are never in a hurry. They never fret.”
  9. “Warriors have an endless capacity to improvise.”
  10. “Insisting is not the realm of the warrior.”
  11. “A warrior must be calm and collected,  seasoned by the on onslaughts of the unknown.”
  12. “If a warrior is to succeed in anything, the success must come gently with a great deal of effort but without the stress of obsession.”

    Mine
  13. A warrior is vulnerable but detached at the same time. Vulnerability gives him the ability to receive.
  14. Warriors learn to nurture their relationship with Spirit, thus trusting it.
  15. Warriors listen beyond the words.
  16. Warriors never forget to honor the Spirit in all things.
  17. Warriors focus on what is in front of them, doing their best to stay of out of their thoughts.
  18. Warriors never question their own wisdom.
  19. Warriors accept that everyone is in a separate reality.
  20. Warriors believe in miracles.
  21. Warriors seek out a special place and watch over it.
  22. Warriors seek to live in their wisdom.

More to come!

I invite you to copy this list and ponder it once in a while.  It is my hope that it will support you as much as it has me.

A Ho, Brothers and Sisters.
