In my note book you will find the following list of qualities of a warrior. These are edited quotes from Carlos Castaneda’s book, The Wheel of Time. I find myself looking at them every so often to keep me on track. I have added a few of my own at the end. It’s my plan to write a book called The Culture of the Warrior. These ideas will give you a sense of what I have planned.
-
“Warriors discard everything that is unnecessary. They aim at being simple and not complicating things. They apply all their concentration.”
-
“A warrior must be willing and ready to make their last stand here and now but not in a helter-skelter way.”
-
“When taking action a warrior relaxes and abandons himself . They fear nothing.”
-
“When faced with odds that cannot be dealt with. Warriors retreat for a moment. They let their minds meander. They occupy their time with something else. Anything will do.”
-
“Warriors compress time. Even an instant counts. Warriors don’t waste even a moment.”
-
“Warriors choose their battleground. They never go into battle without knowing what the surrounding are.”
-
“Warriors never take themselves seriously. They learn to laugh at themselves.”
-
“Warriors have endless patience. They are never in a hurry. They never fret.”
-
“Warriors have an endless capacity to improvise.”
-
“Insisting is not the realm of the warrior.”
-
“A warrior must be calm and collected, seasoned by the on onslaughts of the unknown.”
-
“If a warrior is to succeed in anything, the success must come gently with a great deal of effort but without the stress of obsession.”
Mine
-
A warrior is vulnerable but detached at the same time. Vulnerability gives him the ability to receive.
-
Warriors learn to nurture their relationship with Spirit, thus trusting it.
-
Warriors listen beyond the words.
-
Warriors never forget to honor the Spirit in all things.
-
Warriors focus on what is in front of them, doing their best to stay of out of their thoughts.
-
Warriors never question their own wisdom.
-
Warriors accept that everyone is in a separate reality.
-
Warriors believe in miracles.
-
Warriors seek out a special place and watch over it.
-
Warriors seek to live in their wisdom.
I invite you to copy this list and ponder it once in a while. It is my hope that it will support you as much as it has me.
A Ho, Brothers and Sisters.
