CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS

I thought this list might help direct people to Charitable organizations that are doing amazing work.

Red Cross

I wanted to add a link here for the Red Cross for donations on Katrina. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose your home.

St. Jude's Hospital for Children

St. Jude's Hospital for Children is an incredible organization.  Kids need every chance they can get.

Ronald MacDonald House Charities

Ronald MacDonald House Charities is wonderful organization. I am sure many of you have heard of them. Their primary focus is helping children with serious illnesses. They also have a volunteer program. I invite you to check out the site.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation

Tonight was the final episode of The Apprentice and the task was to raise money for The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. Yahoo, who sponsored the event, didn’t want their VIP clients solicited during the event. Donald was’t happy about this and neither was I! They are doing important work and making a difference.

National Association to Protect Children

This is the organization I speak about in Newsletter #15. They are affecting incredible change in the protection of children. Here is their mission statement:

“PROTECT is a national pro-child, anti-crime membership association. We are founded on the belief that our first and most sacred obligation as parents, citizens, and members of the human species is the protection of children from harm. We are committed to building a powerful, nonpartisan force for the protection of children from abuse, exploitation and neglect. We believe that this must be done through a determined single-issue focus, a meaningful mainstream agenda and the use of proven modern political strategies”

Brothers and Sisters, the annual membership is $35. Just in the last few months, they have gotten the loop holes closed in the incest laws in both New York and California—incredible and hard fought victories.

I invite you from the bottom of my heart to please join. Thank you.

Oprah’s Angel Network

I have never really watched Oprah over the years but I always get the feeling about her—for someone with incredible pressures and responsibility she does her best to have integrity and keep giving back.  I’m for her—period.

PS.  Some day, I’ll get the call to be on her show!!  Already Done, Already Accomplished!

Lakewood Church

Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston was a big part of my support during my cancer journey.  You will find him TV every Sunday—some of you have probably seen him.  His mission is big!  I like Joel because he talks common sense and is not hitting you over the head with the bible.  He’s taking the principle of thought and moods.  His book, Your Best Life Now, is a #1 best seller.

His church does amazing work all over the world helping people.  I have been a supporter of his for years.  I invite you to check out his site and their mission to reach out to those in need.

American Cancer Society

As cancer survivor, I certainly have a special feeling about this organization.  They really helped me when I needed help.  Not once but twice!  I invite you to read about their incredible work in the community.

Charity Web sites - If you are unsure about whether to give to a particular charity, visit . This web site examines over 4,300 charities and evaluates how well they are using your donations. It also contains tips to assist you in choosing where to give and how to document your donations for tax purposes. Once you've selected your charities, you can usually make your contributions online. Just be sure to visit the organization's official web site, rather than using a link in an email. This will ensure that your contribution is going where it should rather than into a scammer's pocket.

World Wildlife Fund

I ran across this organization in my net travels and wondered why I hadn’t included them earlier. Anyone who has been to my office knows how important tigers are to me.  In the tiger area, WWF is doing the definitive work, along with other endanger species. I invite you to check them out!

dZi Foundation

I am great fan of Marmot Outdoor clothing. On their web site I came across a very interesting charitable organization called dZi Foundation. The dZi Foundation funds projects to improve the basic quality of the lives of people in mountain communities with a focus on education, health, culture, and welfare. They are focused, but not limited to the Himalayan region of Ladakh, Nepal and Sikkim.
